OMAHA (DTN) -- Here are the Top 5 things the DTN Newsroom is tracking for the week of Feb. 22. Watch for coverage of these and other topics throughout the week on our subscription platforms as well as on www.DTNPF.com.
Note that all report release and webinar times are Central Standard Time unless otherwise noted.
1. Tariff ruling shock waves: The Feb. 20 Supreme Court decision ruling against the Trump administration's tariffs will continue to send economic waves through U.S. industries, particularly trade-heavy agriculture. Watch for more reporting on that in general and from the many ag conferences happening this week.
2. Commodity Classic this week: Speaking of those conferences, we'll have a number of reports from the annual commodity group conference and trade show in San Antonio, Texas. DTN will be at booth 1047 talking about some upcoming products for farmers and for others in agriculture. If you're attending Classic, stop by, say hello, and learn more.
3. Ethanol news: We'll also be reporting on 45z, tariff-decision implications and other news from the National Ethanol Conference, in Orlando, Florida.
4. Drought help for some: The past week featured big precipitation events, including hail in central Illinois, while wildfires broke out in dry Oklahoma and Kansas areas. A couple of storm systems are likely this week, favoring northern areas of the Plains, not the dry swath that reaches from Missouri across high-production areas of Illinois and Indiana into northwestern Ohio. Strong winds associated with these systems could dry soils quicker, especially with temperatures rising again next week.
5. Reports due this week: Monday at 9 a.m. sees Factory Orders for December and Multivariate Core Trend Inflation. At 10 a.m. we'll have Grain Inspections numbers, then Chicken and Eggs data is released at 2 p.m. Then, Tuesday at 8 a.m. is S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Index numbers, followed at 9 a.m. by Wholesale Inventories for December and Consumer Confidence for February and New Home Sales.
